Influenza is an acute disease that spreads rapidly through the respiratory tract caused by influenza viruses A, B, and C, with seasonal flu typically caused by strains A and B. The disease can cause outbreaks, and although most cases can recover after one week of treatment, there are not a few cases where the illness complicates severely, such as pneumonia, respiratory failure, encephalitis, myocarditis, and even life-threatening if not intervened in a timely manner.<\/p>\n

Recently, the International Pediatric Center – Hai Phong International Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital has received many cases of children infected with influenza A and B, especially in children under 5 years old – a group with a weak immune system and the most vulnerable.<\/p>\n

Symptoms to recognize influenza A:<\/strong><\/h4>\n

  • High fever of 39-40 degrees Celsius.<\/li>\n
  • Upper respiratory tract inflammation (such as cough, sneezing, runny nose).<\/li>\n
  • Sore throat, hoarseness, muscle pain, chest pain, headache, poor appetite, crying in young children.<\/li>\n
  • Severe cases: Difficulty breathing, agitation, respiratory failure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    For influenza viruses in general and specifically influenza A and B, infected individuals can easily transmit the disease to others. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain relative isolation and treat the symptoms of the illness. Vaccination against influenza is an effective measure to prevent children from contracting the flu. At the same time, parents need to closely monitor their child’s health. If any signs of illness appear in the child, they should be taken to a medical facility immediately for consultation, examination, and timely treatment to avoid dangerous complications.<\/p>\n
