The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that approximately 5% of young children have congenital tongue tie. At the Interdisciplinary Department \u2013 International Pediatric Center, the method of tongue tie surgery using Plasma knife is being applied. This method is favored and chosen by many families of patients. It has outstanding advantages compared to other methods:<\/p>\n

\"?\"<\/span> Difficulty or complete inability to move the tongue side to side,<\/p>\n

\"?\"<\/span> Difficulty or complete inability to lift the tongue to touch the upper jaw,<\/p>\n

\"?\"<\/span> Difficulty or complete inability to stick the tongue out of the lower jaw,<\/p>\n

\"?\"<\/span> When the child cries, the tongue is in a heart or V shape,<\/p>\n

\"?\"<\/span><\/span> When the child tries to move their tongue, the tip of the tongue is pointed or square,<\/p>\n

\"?\"<\/span> The lower front teeth are tilted or spaced apart.<\/p>\n

Children with tongue tie degrees 1 and 2 can be calmly monitored further to see how the tongue tie condition affects them. However, children with tongue tie degrees 3 and 4 definitely require surgery. This is the level of tongue tie that, if left untreated, the child will face several negative consequences such as: poor appetite, slow growth, speech impediments, or inability to speak and low self-esteem about their appearance.<\/p>\n

At the Interdisciplinary Department \u2013 International Pediatric Center, two surgical methods for tongue tie using laser and cold plasma knives are being applied. Both methods are effective; however, currently, surgery for tongue tie using cold plasma knives is preferred and chosen by many families of patients.
