After childbirth, a woman’s body will be significantly weakened, frail, and with reduced immunity, making her more susceptible to illness. Therefore, mothers should remember these notes to recover their health as quickly as possible and ensure they do not face too many difficulties in the process of raising their children.
In fact, mothers can choose to give birth via cesarean section or vaginally. Depending on different personalities, there will also be different ways to care for expectant mothers.
Postpartum care after vaginal delivery
During natural childbirth, the mother is not affected by anesthesia or antibiotics, so the milk supply is not affected. This process occurs naturally, allowing the mother to feel the baby’s birth signs.
In the first 8 hours after delivery, the mother needs to rest for 6-8 hours without elevating her head.
– One day after delivery, the mother can start light movement.
– After 2-4 hours postpartum, the mother can eat rice.
– About 1 hour after delivery, the mother should clean her nipples, express the first drops of milk, and then breastfeed the baby.
– The baby will become firm after 3 days of birth; at this time, the mother needs to massage, express milk with a bottle, or use a breast pump with the help of family members.
– If the mother has little or no milk, she needs to rest more, eat a nutritious diet, drink more water, or drink more milk to ensure enough milk for the baby.
Postpartum care after cesarean delivery
Cesarean delivery is less painful than vaginal delivery and offers better aesthetic results, so many expectant mothers choose it. Most of these surgeries are uncomplicated and can be removed as soon as the baby is seven days old. However, there are some points the mother needs to pay attention to ensure the body recovers as quickly as possible and to avoid potential postpartum complications.
– Lie on your side without a pillow for 6 hours after delivery.
– Do not eat anything for 6 hours after delivery.
– After 6 hours of rest, you can start breastfeeding.
– A few days after delivery, the mother should lie on her side, with a pillow behind her back.
– Only eat soft and liquid foods.
– Start light exercise.
– Take good care of the wound.
– One week postpartum, the mother should drink plenty of water and avoid cold.
– Continue to eat light foods like egg porridge.
– One month after delivery, the mother still needs to pay attention to health recovery, avoid eating raw foods at every meal, and not eat too much.
– Do not get up early or do heavy work.
– Exercise and avoid heavy movements.
