The Ministry of Health assesses the conditions for granting an operating license to the Tissue Bank, Hai Phong International Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.

On the morning of June 29, 2024, Hai Phong International Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital welcomed a delegation from the Ministry of Health for the licensing assessment of the Tissue Bank at Hai Phong International Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.
The assessment council from the Ministry of Health was led by Dr. Nguyen Trong Khoa, Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management. The assessment delegation included leaders from various departments under the Ministry of Health, leading experts in Stem Cells, Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Embryology, and representatives from the Hai Phong Department of Health.
Welcoming the assessment delegation, Hai Phong International Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital was represented by Dr. Pham Thu Xanh – Executive Director of Hai Phong International Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, along with members of the Board of Directors, heads of functional departments, and the collective staff of the Tissue Bank.
After hearing the Director of the Tissue Bank report on the legal procedures, organizational structure, arrangement of specialized personnel, facilities, equipment, functions and tasks, and the scope of expertise of the Tissue Bank. The expert evaluation team conducted an actual inspection and assessment at the Tissue Bank.
Concluding the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Trong Khoa, Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, agreed with the evaluations and comments from the experts and members of the appraisal team; acknowledged and highly appreciated the hospital’s preparation process; the documentation was complete and scientific; the facilities were modern, and the management processes were systematic; the workforce was qualified, well-trained in stem cell expertise, processing, isolating, culturing, storing, and preserving stem cells; the equipment was modern and adequately arranged; the strict one-way process met the requirements for establishing a tissue bank and commenced operations.
The establishment of the Tissue Bank reflects the high effort and determination of the leadership of Hai Phong International Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, a pioneer in the field of storing stem cells from umbilical cord blood and cords of newborns for the treatment of certain dangerous diseases in children later on. Additionally, it also stores stem cells from adipose tissue, from milk teeth… aiming for application in clinical treatment.
Dr. Pham Thu Xanh – Executive Director of Hai Phong International Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital thanked the directives from the head of the delegation and acknowledged the opinions of the members of the appraisal team, completing the dossier to submit to the Ministry of Health to quickly put the Tissue Bank – Hai Phong International Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital into operation.
