Timely emergency treatment for a child in anaphylactic shock due to eating a turtle.
Recently, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Hai Phong International Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital admitted a 14-year-old patient, P.V.M, in a state of agitation, fatigue, continuous high fever of 39 degrees Celsius, widespread erythema, severe itching, rapid weak pulse, low blood pressure, and intermittent abdominal pain. According to information from the patient’s mother, the child had eaten soft-shelled turtle meat that noon, and about 15 minutes after the meal, the child developed widespread red rashes, severe itching, abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea. The family purchased medication for the child, but the symptoms did not improve. About 4 hours after the meal, the family took the child to the emergency department of the hospital.
