SUCCESSFUL EMERGENCY TREATMENT OF SEVERE RESPIRATORY FAILURE, SURFACTANT INACTIVATION – FETAL BACTERIAL INFECTION

After days of worry, excitement, and tension, the lovely baby has finally bravely overcome a serious illness to return to their parents and family.
After birth, the baby experienced severe respiratory failure due to inactive surfactant and sepsis from within the fetus. The baby was transferred to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in a state of very severe respiratory failure, with uniformly hazy lungs due to inactive surfactant and severe pulmonary hypertension.

Immediately, the baby was put on a ventilator, given vasopressor medications, and surfactant was directly administered into the lungs, along with antibiotics and intravenous nutrition. The first three days of treatment were the most critical: the baby frequently experienced severe pulmonary hypertension episodes, and blood infection markers were very high… Every development of the baby was closely monitored, with every ml of medication and milk carefully calculated.

With the determination of the medical team in the department and the attentive care of the family, the baby overcame the toughest moments and made a remarkable recovery. The day the baby was discharged from the hospital was the happiest day for the family, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and the hospital. We wish the baby will always be healthy and remain as resilient as this!
